Library Book Trivia Question #9

Just recently, the winners of the 2008 Newbery Medal and Newbery Honors were announced. Since this is the third time that author Kate DiCamillo has appeared on our countdown with her book Because of Winn-Dixie, I would like to know, “What is the total number of Newbery Medals and Honors has Kate DiCamillo won? I also want to know which books received which medal.

Library Book Trivia Question #8

In 1996, the children’s book James and the Giant Peach written by Roald Dahl, was made into a full-length movie. How many of Roald Dahl’s children’s books have been made into feature films and what are the titles of those books/movies?

Answer to Library Book Trivia Question #7 is Emily Bronte and Anne Bronte. Sisters of Charlotte Bronte, Emily wrote Wuthering Heights and Anne wrote Agnes Grey.

Library Book Trivia Question #7

When Charlotte Bronte published Jane Eyre in 1847, it brought her much success which was unusual for a woman in those days. However, Charlotte was not the only female published author in her family. What are the names of Charlotte’s two sisters who wrote the books Wuthering Heights and Agnes Grey?

Answer to Library Book Trivia Question #6 is the Eliza Award. This award was created in 2002 by the Fay School Library and The Mystery of Eatum Hall was voted as the Lower School’s favorite picture book in 2005.

In 2005, the picture book The Mystery of Eatum Hall by John Kelly and Cathy Tincknell won a very important and prestigious children’s literature award. What is the name of the award?

Hint: Anyone who had library classes in the Lower School here at Fay should know the answer to this question.

Answer to Library Book Trivia Question #5 is Holes by Louis Sachar. The main character’s name is Stanley Yelnats which, if you read it backwards, reads Stanley Yelnats.

Library Book Trivia Question #3

Rodman Philbrick, adult and children’s author who wrote Freak the Mighty, loves to fish near his home in Maine. In 2004, he wrote the book The Young Man and the Sea,  a story about a 12 year old boy who takes a very small boat out on the ocean by himself to try and catch a bluefin tuna. The Young Man and the Sea is Rodman Philbrick’s way of paying respect to another famous fishing story written by Ernest Hemingway in 1952. What is the title of that book?

For the seventy-fifth anniversary edition of The Wind in the Willows, the book was republished with lovely illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard. Shepard also created the original illustrations of what other well-loved children’s classic, published in 1926, that has a full cast of delightful characters? Hint: Those characters live in the Hundred Acre Woods!
